Talk about the Soviet/Afghan war the weather.
Whenever the conversation feels like it’s stalling…
This is. Literally. What I default to.
“Nice weather today.”
Everybody: [running from landslide.]
'chew: [tramples vegan] It sure is humid today!
What if the weather sucks?
“Nice weather today, but it’s really hot / bright, huh?”
Or insert whatever typical complaint we have in lieu of hot / bright.
Huh, I can’t remember people saying that weather is “good but”, they’ll just go straight to the problem.
“Enjoying the weather?”
“It’s wet, and cold.”

Also read Saki if you enjoy Japanese mahjong and yuri and internal suffering because the series has been ongoing for 15+ years without closure in sight.

Still wrapped up in Saki. Don’t send help. _(:τ」∠)_
I’ve reread and rewatched the same chapter / episodes / scenes so many times I’ve lost count.
I neeeeeeeeeed.
More Mairu × Himeko / Shindouji content.
Currently reading Saki and Achiga-Hen in Japanese, because the nuances of Saga-ben are often lost in Japanese-to-English translations.
Useful Resources for Japanese Transcriptions / Translations:
- RomajiDesu: Japanese dictionary site with tools to translate between Japanese (kanji, romaji, hiragana, and katakana) to English and to look up kanji via its radicals.
- MDBG Chinese Dictionary: Chinese dictionary site, but there’s a tool that’ll convert brush (mouse-drawn) strokes to text characters. For Japanese, it’s primarily and only useful if a character’s stroke order is known, but not its hiragana or meaning.
- Google Translate: Tool that can translate between Japanese to English. Its kanji-to-romaji is sometimes inaccurate, but its text-to-speech is infinitely useful.
- DeepL Translate: Tool that can translate between Japanese to English. For phrases and sentences – especially for dialects like Saga-ben and Kansai-ben – its translations are more accurate than Google Translate and RomajiDesu (IMO).
Oh.
Also I guess Cyclone Hilary is a thing, and we had multiple flood warnings throughout the weekend (and this morning), and an earthquake happened close to L.A.
Whatever, if I’m going to die, I’ll die with yuri in my hands.
First one my sister’s experienced since she moved to LA. It was something else (she said).
Garmin watch tells me it’s close to 2,000-3,000 steps on a weekday / workday, except for Saturdays when I hike (16,000), and Sundays where I stay sedentary all day (800-900).
Weekly average seems to be 32,000-ish.
Mmmm sedentarism.

Went hiking with friendos again~
Then we hit up Glendale Galleria and I – I mean – we messed around while window shopping for things (but mostly me).
Was looking at new hoodies since my daily driver’s getting a little scuffed, but I think I’ll hold back until sale season rolls in.
Whhyyyyyy would you tell me this???
I have more hoodies than I need and the fact I can’t use them makes me sad.
but last winter I discovered how amazing vests are/were/can be(?) and I drove myself up a the wall trying to figure out which vest to buy, only to buy one that’s too big. Now thanks to you I started looking at them again.

Light drizzle on the Sat morning.
Me likey. Darker mornings and a light rain often deters 90% of hikers. Even the regulars show up later than their usual schedule.
Trying to get away from people, are we?

Weekend turned into a long string of misfortunes.
- Went to the usual Ralphs with the intention of redeeming a limited-time coupon, but they were out of stock.
- Went to another Ralphs that’s a little bit further out and successfully redeemed that coupon there instead.
- Some angry weirdo followed me to the bank and yelled at me for tailgating him.
- Apologized and went on my way. Fuck you, asswipe, I hope your shitty new car totals and you die an agonizingly painful death in a fiery ditch someplace.
- Accidentally spilled boiling hot water on my hand while refilling the thermos bottle.
- No long-term injuries or major scarring. No biggie, compared to the first-degree burn I got a couple’a weeks ago (which was also no biggie).
- Light bulb in the oven burned out while I was cleaning it.
- Time to shop for and replace it, I guess. Sicing the cost on the roommates, though. Payback, since I keep doing all the house labor and maintenance.

I.
Fucking.
Haaate~
Peeeooople.
Anyway.
Vitriol over.
Here’s random thoughts I jotted down while hiking:
- Fuck your loudspeaker and fuck your god damn Hispanic mushit.
- Damn girl, your thighs are as big as mine.
- Ugh, my fuckin’ kidney.
- Cute puppy. (It was a smol, white, fluffy doggo.)
- Wow, she remembered my name.
- Those manboobs are jiggly AF lmaooo.
- …めんどい… (Wanted to pass some hikers, but the trio were blocking the entire path.)
Why do I feel like these are connected. . .
What kind was it? Spanish rock? Rap? Mariachi?
Ah, no idea. Not rap, and I don’t think it was rock. Sounded kinda folk-sy to me, but IDK how to categorize music so don’t trust my word on that.
Soon as I heard it, I whipped out the other IEM to plug the other ear with my own music. Makes me totally deaf to my surroundings, but I’ll take it over someone blasting thier noise at 100% volume.

Cloudy mornings and cooler temps!
Also, there’s been a very nice breeze around town lately.
